Our Story

Manila Science High School Batch 1979. We are the scholars who walked the halls of Taft Avenue in the 70s - under strict yet nurturing teachers, long exams, and a shared pride in wearing the MaSci badge.
After almost five decades, we have become doctors, engineers, teachers, OFWs, entrepreneurs, and retirees across Manila, and around the world. But we never left MaSci.

In 2026, we formalized what we have always done informally - helping a sick classmate, supporting a retired teacher, paying for a fellow MaScian's child's tuition, and even supporting repairs of our alma mater.Â
MASCI79 Foundation, Inc. is now a duly-registered non-stock, non-profit foundation in New York, governed by members of Batch 1979.
Our Board: Alumni volunteers from Batch 1979 - no salaries, no overhead. All donations go to our programs.

Regina Piñol
President

Vincent Peter Ty
Vice President
​
A University of the Philippines graduate, Vincent began his passion in education right after graduation when he was appointed as a Political Science lecturer in U.P. and Lyceum of the Philippines. He continued as corporate consultant in management and HR development. After earning his MBA from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, he moved on as a professor of business management to MBA students, and College of St. Benilde. Simultaneously, he built a corporate executive career in sales and marketing in the property development industry while he continued to be a management consultant focusing on Organizational Behavior. Reinventing himself in the realm of tech and business, he acquired a Microsoft certification and broadened his expertise teaching Microsoft and business management to professionals and college in New York.
Arnel Recidoro

With over three decades of experience in streamlining government operations and managing complex logistical movements, he brings discipline, integrity, and a servant-leader mindset to the Foundation. Now retired and based in California, he devotes time to giving back to the Manila Science community.
Faustina Margarita Molina-Virina

Tina has more than 40 years of communication experience in private sector advertising, developmental communication work, social marketing and behavior change communication for the United Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) , United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) , the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the World Health Organization Philippine Office (WHOPHL) , the European Union (EU), the Bloomberg Initiative for Tobacco Control and the United States Center for Disease Control (US CDC).

She teams up with different Philippine non-profit organizations that collaborate with national agencies and local government units in the capacity building of its personnel in health promotions and community-based education.Â
Adelina "Baby" Anciano

She is a graduate of B.A. Linguistics, University of the Philippines Diliman, and a Japanese Ministry of Education (Monbusho) Scholar at Waseda University, Tokyo.
Her career spans over 4  decades. She started in hospitality and trade at the JW Marriott Hong Kong and Itochu Corporation; served as Japan Desk Officer at the Philippine Retirement Authority, and went on to hold senior HR leadership roles for 17 years — 10 years as HR & Admin Manager at Obayashi Corporation (Philippines, Dubai, Singapore), 2 years in a Japanese language school and 5 years as HR Manager at Yokowo Manufacturing Philippines.

Cristeta "Cris" Comerford
Board Member

As the former White House Executive Chef, Cris has spent nearly three decades cooking for five U.S. Presidents and First Families, executing over fifty State Dinners. Appointed in 2005 by First Lady Laura Bush, she is known for her mastery, creativity, and culinary diplomacy—showcasing American cuisine while honoring global cultures. She has earned major international awards, including France’s Order of Agricultural Merit and the Pamana ng Pilipino Award. She now resides in Palm Beach County with her husband and two fur babies.

Dennis Bernardo

Dennis is a board-certified family physician currently working for Englewood Health in Ramsey, NJ. He graduated from UERMMMC with an MD degree in 1987, and finished his residency in Family Practice at Southside Hospital, Bayshore, NY.

He actively participates in various organizations serving the Filipino community at large. He sits at the Board for the UERM ’87 Foundation, currently serves as Vice-President for the Handang Tumulong Foundation, Inc. (a disaster-relief non-profit organization), and music director for the Kayumanggi Chorale, (pianist/tenor for the 35 year old choir), and liaison officer for UP Alumni Association in America, Inc. He was also past VP for the Foundation for Filipino Artists in America, Inc.

Noel Casim
Board Member

He began at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and OAO Corporation (now Lockheed Martin), working on mission-critical systems, and went on to spend 25+ years in senior software and data engineering roles at ValueClick, Conversant, and Epsilon — some of the pioneers of digital advertising — where he helped build large-scale data platforms and ad-tech infrastructure powering Fortune 500 brands.
